Info: Shay was Dalgliesh's first signing when he joined from Blackburn Rovers in the Summer of '97 for £1.5m. He became first choice Keeper under Dalgliesh but often found himself Reserve to Steve Harper with Gullit. With Robson's coaching however Given has established himself as first choice for Club and Country and was one of the jewels in the Ireland squad during their 2002 World Cup campaign. This coming on the back of a Goalkeeper of the Year award in the Premiership and an improved 5 year contract capped a brilliant season for Shay.

Info: Easington born Steve was snapped up from a local amateur Club and team spent his early playing days on loan in the lower divisions before Gullit noticed his potential during some storming games for the Reserves. He was given his big break coming in for the injured Given against Wimbledon and became first choice for long periods with Gullit and even played in the FA Cup Final. Always a fans favourite he remains reliable and agile goalkeeper providing tough competition for Given.

Info: Bought by Gullit from NAC Breda, Karelse was an unknown and was thrown in at the deep end only 2 days after signing by taking residence between the sticks against Southampton and Wimbledon where he conceded 7 goals overall. Still provides a safe pair of hands as a tall third choice keeper although is unofficially on the Transfer List and is unlikely to feature under Robson.
